Strange ipod problem.. ipod syncs and does everything but is frozen

ok.. so i have an ipod video
when i plug it in.. it syncs and my computer picks it up.. and the battery charges. but the thing is.. the screen is frozen and it won't move at all.. but thats not all... when i restored it then the graphics on the lcd changed accordingly.. so i thought it was unfrozen and i was happy.. yet when i tried the clickwheel.. nothing happened.. the hold button works for some reason.. screen turns dark and all..

Do i need a new logic board?!
or is this fixable?
